“No chance” – Ex-Parma manager dismisses Napoli’s move for Liverpool-linked Super Eagles star

Soccer

Former Parma general manager Enrico Fedele has dismissed reports linking Ademola Lookman with a move to Napoli, insisting that the club’s Sporting Director Giovanni Manna is focused on other targets, Soccernet.ng reports.

Speculation around Lookman’s future has been growing in recent weeks, with reports suggesting that Napoli, Juventus, and Liverpool are all monitoring the Nigerian international.

However, Fedele has poured cold water on Napoli’s supposed interest, stating categorically that the Atalanta star is not on their radar.

“Lookman to Napoli? No, there is no chance that this deal will go through. I don’t see why these rumours should be spread,” Fedele said on Tele A’s Fuorigioco program as per Area Napoli.

“I have been in the world of football for about fifty years and have developed several relationships. I can tell you that Giovanni Manna, Sporting Director of Napoli, is on the trail of another player: Solet. Trust me: he is really strong, very strong.”

Soccer Liverpool and Juventus still in the race for Super Eagles star

While Fedele is confident Napoli will not pursue Lookman, other European giants remain keen.

Juventus are reportedly considering a move for the 27-year-old as they look to reshape their attack in the summer. Their interest could depend on the potential sale of Dusan Vlahovic, which would free up funds for new signings.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been linked with a £60 million bid, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

With Luis Diaz attracting strong interest from Barcelona, the Premier League side is already assessing possible replacements, and Lookman is one of the names on their shortlist.

While Barcelona have eyes for Diaz, the club’s sporting director Deco is a known admirer of Lookman, which places the Super Eagles star on the Spanish giant’s transfer wishlist.

Soccer Lookman’s future in doubt

Despite his excellent form this season—15 goals and six assists in 28 matches—Lookman’s future at Atalanta remains uncertain.

His relationship with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has reportedly deteriorated following a penalty miss in a UEFA Champions League clash against Club Brugge, further fueling speculation that he could leave in the summer.

With Lookman’s contract expiring in 2026, Atalanta currently value him at €60 million, but they may be forced to negotiate a lower fee if they decide to sell.

Soccer Soccernet.ng’s verdict on Lookman

While Fedele’s comments suggest Napoli are looking elsewhere, the transfer saga surrounding Lookman is far from over.

Europe’s biggest clubs are keen on Lookman and if Juventus and Liverpool remain interested, the Nigerian winger could still be on the move this summer.

Whether he stays in Italy or makes a return to the Premier League, Lookman’s next step promises to be one of the most intriguing stories of the transfer window.
