Axie Infinity Announces New Web3 Game

• Axie Infinity has introduced a new web3 game known as Atia’s Legacy
• The game is open for play testing
• Axie Infinity is also offering Axie NFTs to those “referring friends to pre-register” for the game

Web3 project Axie Infinity continues to advance its exploration of the blockchain world with a web3 game known as Atia’s Legacy. Atia’s Legacy is a multiplayer game and shares the “same DNA” with the Axie game. The game is currently open for play testing with playtesters and those inviting users to test the game positioned to earn Axie NFTs, in a move meant to draw more people into the game.

Game “Set in the Axie Universe of Lunacia”

In a blog post, Axie Infinity creator Sky Mavis disclosed that the game has been in development since May last year and is “set in the Axie universe of Lunacia.” Axie Infinity described Lunacia as a world that’s ready for rebuilding “after centuries of war.”

Atia’s Legacy is expected to go live towards the end of this year and allows players to build armies and make friends. Although the game is currently available through a browser, there’s a plan to create a mobile and PC version to boost access.

The game allows players to form squads of four Axies and lead them to battle. Other Atia’s Legacy features include dynamic progression where squad members grow together and an immersive player versus environment (PvE) aspect that allows players to fully interact with their environments.

Axie Infinity disclosed that it wishes to replicate and possibly exceed the success of the Axie game. According to the post, Axie entered the Guinness World Record “for all-time NFT trading volume” with over $4 billion in volume.

Axie Infinity Has the Most Valuable NFT IP?

Axie also boasts of having more than 2 million unique Axie owners, 270,000 monthly active players, and the most valuable NFT IP “ever invented in crypto.”

The Atia’s Legacy trailer comes two years after Sky Mavis partnered with CyberKongz to create a web3 game. It also comes a year after Axie Infinity reworked its token to stabilize its earning model.

With Axie Infinity opening Atia’s legacy to playtesters, it’s to be seen whether the game will gain the same adoption and revenue as the Axie game.
