Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Emir of Northern Borders Province, launched a number of development and investment projects in Waad Al-Shamal Industrial City, with investments nearing SAR 29 billion.

Construction at Saudi Arabian Mining Co.’s (Maaden) Phosphate 3 project was announced, with estimated investments of SAR 28 billion. Standing among the largest mining developments in the region, being backed by Shareek Program, the project is set to boost Saudi Arabia’s phosphate production to nine million tons per year, with the Phosphate 1 and 2 projects each contributing three million tons annually. This is poised to support the development of the local industrial supply chain and the creation of more investment and job opportunities.

Furthermore, the official inaugurated the expansion of Maaden’s residential city in Waad Al-Shamal, comprising three new buildings (each featuring 32 residential units), bringing the total to 96 residential units, each spanning 51 square meters (sqm). This is in addition to the 483 residential units in the first phase of the city.

He also inaugurated several other industrial, logistics and service projects being implemented by the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON), with investments of more than SAR 550 million.

These include the infrastructure development project in the industrial zone with an area of 4.3 million sqm and the establishment of 32 ready-made units, consisting of 20 ready-made plants and 12 support units with a total area of 45,000 sqm. This is besides the execution of a 132-kV power substation, aerial transmission lines and the bridge linking to the International Road Network, which extends more than seven kilometers long.

According to Argaam’s data, last month, Maaden signed some contracts worth SAR 3.5 billion for the development of the third phosphate fertilizers manufacturing project (Phosphate 3).
