Desperate to widen their buffer over the Bundesliga drop zone, Union Berlin will welcome Kiel to the German capital on Sunday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, while Union Berlin might have stormed their way to a dominant 4-0 victory away at Hoffenheim on February 8th, the Irons Ones have come crashing back down to earth in a worrying fashion. Although the former Hoffenheim coach might have seen his squad claim an iconic 4-2 victory against Borussia Dortmund on January 14th, it appears that was just a minor boost for Sunday’s guests. Last seen falling to a 2-0 defeat at home against Bayer Leverkusen, Kiel have collected just two points from any of their previous six Bundesliga appearances. With time really starting to tick away, Rapp’s side have failed to find any kind of stability at the back. Shipping 59 Bundesliga goals so far this season, the Storks hold the worst defensive tally among Germany’s elite.
