Darkoo accuses Peter of P-Square of sabotaging “Focus on Me” music video

Darkoo in her recent post on social media has called out singer Peter of P-Square for his role in the removal of the music video for ‘Focus on me’ on YouTube.

Popular Nigerian rapper Darkoo in her recent post on social media has called out Peter Okoye one half of the legendary duo, P-Square over his involvement in the taking down of her cover of ‘Do Me’ titled ‘Focus on Me.’

Darkoo in her recent post on social media revealed that the video for ‘Focus on Me‘ was taken down for six days on the grounds of copyright infringement thereby ruining her hardwork.

She revealed that in no way did she violate the copyrights of P-Square as she reached out to all parties involved and requested for the right permission to put out the song.

Darkoo went on to state that the reason the video was taken down by Peter Okoye was because he had wanted to feature on the song himself a gesture which she had refused but considered in the eventuality of the release of a remix.

Her statement on social media read, “I wasn’t going to say anything, but my music video was taken down for six days by Peter of P-Square in an attempt to sabotage the song completely. Fortunately, the video is back up now. Let me be clear: I had all the necessary clearance for the sample. This isn’t my first rodeo using a sample, as you know, and I did everything by the book.”

“To put things into perspective, they are receiving 50%—rightfully so. Yet, Mr. Peter wanted to be featured on the song and even created his own verse for it. He told me not to speak to or clear the sample with his brothers, Jude and Paul (who, by the way, have been incredibly helpful in resolving the issues). He claimed they would bring “unnecessary problems” for me.”

“However, as soon as the song dropped, Mr. Peter completely switched on me. He began causing problems because he wanted to be featured on the track. Although I intended to have him on the remix, I guess that wasn’t enough. Instead, he chose to act out of anger, manipulate the situation, and attempt to sabotage the song simply because I didn’t bow to his demands.”

“He took my video down, not for reasons related to copyright or contracts, but because he didn’t get what he wanted (to be featured). He even told my team that I had “disrespected him,” which is why he took action. His actions have hurt me deeply, affecting my fans, ruining my hard work, and wasting the time and money invested. It’s heartbreaking because I grew up admiring him, and to see someone I once looked up to actively trying to hurt me and block my success is incredibly painful.”

” For the record: I had the clearance, contracts, and paperwork from P-Square. I went above and beyond to ensure their rights were respected and handled everything correctly with the right people, covering all contributors. This isn’t how our OGs are supposed to behave. It’s sad and disappointing.”

I WASN’T GOING TO SAY ANYTHING, BUT MY MUSIC VIDEO WAS TAKEN DOWN FOR 6 DAYS BY PETER OF P-SQUARE IN AN ATTEMPT TO COMPLETELY SABOTAGE THE SONG. (FORTUNATELY THE VIDEO IS BACK UP NOW.) https://t.co/i2Jo1OVsKz
