Abba superfan has ended up with 84 Mamma Mia DVDs — as people keep giving them to her as gifts

AN ABBA superfan has ended up with 84 Mamma Mia DVDs — as people keep giving them to her as gifts.

Leah Rankin, 22, was gutted when her gran accidentally got her a disc for the second time, forgetting her first purchase.

The uni graduate then ended up with a third when dad Ralph gave her yet another copy.

The gaffe soon turned into a long-running joke, with Ralph, 56, grabbing another 71 identical DVDs for Leah.

Leah, from Bonnyrigg, near Edinburgh, said: “When I opened the first couple of copies, I thought ‘how many am I going to get here?’ and they just kept coming.”

After electronics shop owner Ralph shared the stunt to fellow TikTokers, viewers sent in their own copies of the 2008 flick.

One Abba fan wrote: “I’ve never had more respect for someone before.”

Dad-of-one Ralph has already spent £60 on his collection, but plans to get 500 DVDs for Leah.

He said: “After I’d seen Mamma Mia’s in charity shops and second-hand DVD shops, I thought I’d just start buying them.

“In one shop I found a dozen, and when I went to buy them the lady looked at me as if I was mad.”

Leah admitted she “loves” the hit jukebox musical, starring Meryl Streep — and finds her dad’s jape funny.

But she added: “All my friends think it’s crazy — they’ve seen it on Facebook and TikTok and I just say ‘yeah, that’s my Dad’.”
