Kenny Smith’s Son Pulls Off Impressive Points Haul as NBA Hopes Stay Alive

Basketball

The new point guard of the Smith family is on a roll! A ‘Starting Five’ and a top player on his high school basketball team. Yes, the Mater Dei Monarchs! It seems Malloy Smith is on a breakthrough to the NBA path like his father Kenny. The continuation of the legacy? Maybe. The Rockets legend has openly expressed how proud he is of his son when Mater Dei won the game against Crean Lutheran. On Tuesday night, Malloy gave the Jet another reason to be elated about.

Recalling, the game between Southern California Blue Blood and the Underdogs of the Southwestern county seemed quite a mismatch. So, imagine the shock when the 3 seeded team lagged during the overtime! The Monarchs lost at the home court of the Dons with a sell-out crowd. This adds another streak to the underdogs’ wins! The number? 13 straight victory.

Needless to say, it was a rollercoaster ride for the players, coaches and the fans. Tough luck for the Monarchs boys though. In hindsight, not so bad for the Queens’ lad. Malloy Smith set a new record for himself. How? By scoring 17 points!

In the CIF- SS Div 1 quarter-finals, Malloy was the second-highest scorer in the game. And the first one?  Blake Davidson with 19 points. In the first half, the Monarchs were leading the game by 6 points. It kept on going back and forth till the last second. They were tied at 63 points! And then the overtime came. It made the audience hold their breath till the last second. The loss? The Monarchs by 5 points. It was a good game.

Malloy showcased finely tuned defensive skills while implementing his quick agility. He’s always ready to dominate the paint. Perhaps, we could see a more impressive Malloy Smith in the next game. Or an in-depth analysis from the Jet?

The Jet sure is utilizing his set skills verbally and physically. For the latter part, let’s move to the topic of his Academy.

Kenny’s ‘The Jet Academy’ is all the hype recently. For being a one-of-a-kind virtual setting? Not exactly, but almost there. It’s also not only for the mentorship facility where young players can get feedback on their live drills from NBA legends and current star players. The real reason —they signed up an NBA prospect!

And who would that be? No, not his sons. It’s Kevin Thomas. The Sagemont’s guard. The young fellow drew massive attention for his set skills at last year’s Hoop Fest Tournament in Dallas. Welcoming him to the Jet fam, Kenny Smith has taken it upon himself to bring out the best of the young promising talent.

Kenny Smith is quite a versatile man. Wouldn’t you say? From playing basketball, analyzing sports, and running a business to supporting his kids, he does all so well. Aren’t you curious how he will express his emotions about his boy’s achievement? Speaking of Malloy Smith, he’s making a return to the Jet Academy EYBL in the summer.
