Buyers sought for £30m of modular factory assets

The entire portfolio of a building company’s modular assets has been put up for auction.

More than 500 lots including a 2021 Stour Twin Column Welding Cell and 2020 ABB IRB 8700 Foundry Plus articulated robotic handling arm are available to buy.

Asset disposal company BPI said the items represented the “complete asset portfolio of a major modular building manufacturer” which was being sold following “a business restructure”.

Other items available include a 2021 Street 25t Twin Crab Steel Gantry Crane which has a reserve price of £5,000 and a 2020 Gudel FP6 Precision Placement Gantry Crane, which has a starting price of £10,000.

The items are on sale in Kent, and the auction is set to close on 10 March.

BPI key account director James Mellars said the auction was a “rare opportunity” to obtain modular building equipment at exceptional value.

BPI did not respond to a question from Construction News about which company the assets previously belonged to before this article went live.

The offsite sector has seen a large contraction in recent years, with the likes of Ilke HomesMid GroupEco Modular Buildings and Caledonian Modular collapsing.

Berkeley Homes, whose modular factory operations were previously based in Northfleet, Kent, pulled back from the sector in 2023.

Last year, BPI auctioned off the entire stock of Goldman Sachs-backed TopHat, after it wound down its volumetric operations.
