Oyo Advisory Council condoles Makinde over brother’s death

The Oyo State Advisory Council has extended its condolences to Governor Seyi Makinde over the passing of his elder brother, Sunday Makinde, who died on Friday, January 24.

In a statement issued by the Council’s chairman, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN), and its secretary, Babatunde Giwa, the members expressed deep sorrow over the loss, acknowledging the profound pain and emptiness that come with the death of a loved one, especially a brother.

The statement highlighted the unique and profound bond between siblings, nurtured by shared memories, mutual respect, and familial love.

According to the statement, “The council recognizes that loosing such a crucial figure in one’s life is heart-wrenching and that the personal pain Governor Makinde is experiencing is compounded by the demands of his office.

“In this difficult time, the Council encourages Governor Makinde to surround himself with loved ones who can provide support and comfort. We also remind him that it is perfectly acceptable to grieve and that he is not alone in this journey.

“The Council reflects on the legacy of Engineer Sunday Makinde, which will undoubtedly live on through the lives he touched and the memories he created with his family. We pray that Governor Makinde finds solace in reflecting on the joyful moments he shared with his “brother.

“The Oyo State Advisory Council offered its heartfelt condolences to Governor Makinde and the Makinde family as they navigate this difficult chapter. We pray for the family to have the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and for Engineer Sunday Makinde’s soul to rest in peace.”

As the state mourns the loss of Engineer Sunday Makinde, the Council urges everyone to remember the governor and his family in their prayers. 

“We pray for strength, comfort, and peace during this difficult time. May Engineer Sunday Makinde’s soul rest in peace.”
