Unizik seeks partnership with journalists as new NUJ executive visits

The acting Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Joseph Ikechebelu, Monday, sought partnership with journalists to train, enhance staff productivity and promote academic excellence in the citadel of learning.

Ikechebelu, while receiving the newly elected State Working Committee (SWC) members and other stakeholders of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra state Council in a courtesy call at his office, said he was optimistic that the collaboration would be beneficial to all concerned.

“We are committed to providing a conductive environment for effective teaching and learning. The University is very calm, peaceful and progressing. We are thriving. We need a media partnership to go higher. We want to have a productive staff, and happy productive students. When our staff are happy, and students are happy, they will be progressing.

“We have accepted to give NUJ a hand of fellowship to get done with whatever plans they have to boost our academic activities. We will help to train their members and our staff, collaborate in the next three years of Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu’s administration to make Anambra State and Nigeria proud,” he stated.

He, however, commended Dr Odogwu on his achievements in office in the past three years and urged him to double efforts in his second term, be magnanimous in victory and embrace teamwork so as to achieve more in the second term.

Earlier, the reelected Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu (PhD), explained that the visit was aimed at pledging solidarity and partnership with the Acting Vice Chancellor, while urging him to sustain his various innovative strategies towards transforming the university.
