FA Cup 5th round draw: Iwobi eyes Man United revenge, Tijani faces City test as Nigerians learn opponents

Soccer

The Emirates FA Cup fifth-round draw has set up Alex Iwbo’s fulham, and Muhamed Tijani’s Plymouth Argyle for a tough test against Premier League giants, Soccernet.ng reports.

A few Nigerian players will battle it out in the last 16 ties scheduled for the 1st and second weekend of the month of March.

Iwobi and Bassey’s Fulham will have a chance to avenge this season’s painful home and away English Premier League defeat when they travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

Meanwhile, it would also be recalled that in 2023, the Cottagers suffered a dramatic 3-1 loss in a similar fashion, where they finished with nine men after a chaotic collapse. Iwobi will be eager to settle the score this time.

Elsewhere, Muhamed Tijani’s Plymouth Argyle faces arguably the toughest challenge of the round as they head to the Etihad Stadium to battle Manchester City. Guardiola’s side remains a heavy favourite, which hands Tijani a daunting task ahead of the game.

Jamilu Collins’ Cardiff City have also been handed a difficult away trip to Aston Villa, who are enjoying a strong campaign under Unai Emery.

Meanwhile, the fate of Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi’s Nottingham Forest hangs in the balance as they await their fourth-round result against Exeter City. Victory would set up a fifth-round tie against Ipswich Town.

With a spot in the quarter-finals and £225,000 in prize money up for grabs, the Nigerian stars will be looking to make an impact in the competition.
