Soccer FA Cup: Femi Azeez is Millwall’s hero as Man City escape early scare from Jaiyesimi’s Leyton Orient

Oluwafemi Azeez produced a stunning individual display to help Millwall secure a 2-0 away victory over Leeds United in the fourth round of the FA Cup, Soccernet.ng reports.

Azeez scored both goals for the visitors as Millwall, currently 14th in the Championship, stunned the league leaders at Elland Road.

Leeds dominated the early exchanges and created several chances, but Sam Chambers, Wilfried Gnonto, and Largie Ramazani failed to convert.

Azeez punished the hosts for those misses, breaking the deadlock with a stunning goal in the 30th minute.

The 23-year-old, born in England to a Nigerian father and a Spanish mother, received the ball from Joe Bryan outside the box and curled a right-footed shot which took a wicked deflection into the right corner.

That goal forced Leeds to push forward in search of an equalizer, while Millwall remained compact, soaking up the pressure and waiting for an opportunity to strike on the counter.

Their plan worked to perfection ten minutes into the second half when Azeez doubled the visitors’ advantage. Following a swift counterattack, Casper De Norre found Azeez, and the former Reading lad finished clinically with his left foot.

It was a comfortable lead that Millwall held onto to book their place in the FA Cup fifth round.

FA Cup: Man City survive early scare at Leyton Orient

Elsewhere at the Gaughan Group Stadium in London, Manchester City survived an early scare to overcome Leyton Orient 2-1 in their FA Cup fourth-round clash.

Diallang Jaiyesimi started in attack for Leyton Orient, but it was on-loan Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jamie Donley who opened the scoring for the hosts.

Spotting City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega off his line, Donley attempted an audacious long-range effort from nearly the halfway line. The ball crashed off the crossbar, rebounded off Ortega, and rolled into the net—ultimately recorded as an own goal.

Leyton Orient held onto their lead until the second half, but City’s superior squad depth proved decisive. Substitutes Kevin De Bruyne and Abdukodir Khusanov came on to turn the tie in favour of the Premier League champions.
