Hoping to make up some ground in the play-off chase, Grenoble will welcome Red Star to the Stade des Apes on Friday night.

Continuing to skyrocket their way up the Ligue 2 standings, Franck Rizzetto’s men have their sights firmly set on mounting a genuine play-off charge in 2025. Opening Friday’s showdown knowing that they can move within touching distance of the top-five, the Blues should be looking to make another statement here. Getting the New Year underway with a dramatic 3-2 win against Bastia, Grenoble have now won four of their previous five Ligue 2 appearances. Securing consecutive 1-0 victories against Caen and Martigues, Rizzetto’s side have also gained a reputation for their success on home soil. In fact, GF38 have won each of their previous three straight showdowns at the Stade des Apes by an aggregate score of 6-3. It should also be highlighted, Grenoble have suffered just a single Ligue 2 defeat in front of their own supporters since returning from November’s international break.
As for the visitors, while Grenoble might be enjoying what has become a sensational purple patch, Red Star find themselves at the heart of a real struggle. Falling to a 2-1 loss at home against Lorient last weekend, Les Audoniens have a real battle on their hands in the race to keep hold of their Ligue 2 status. Getting Friday’s showdown underway sat in the drop zone, Gregory Poirier’s side are desperately seeking some kind of boost. Falling to a 4-1 drumming against local rivals Paris FC, the former Martigues boss has seen his squad lose each of their previous three consecutive Ligue 2 appearances. Hit with a 3-1 defeat at home against Pau FC on January 17th, Red Star have shown some glaring defensive issues. In fact, Poirier’s men have conceded nine goals on their three-match losing rut. Given what has been a huge recent gulf in class between Friday’s opponents, we are backing a home draw no bet this weekend.
