Danny Jones faces health scare after I’m A Celebrity win

Danny Jones has disclosed that he disregarded the medical advice from the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! team following his victory in the jungle, which led to him feeling unwell. The McFly frontman came out on top as king of the jungle last Sunday, beating television figure Coleen Rooney, who finished as the runner-up, as well as Reverend Richard Coles, who claimed third.

With the victory in Australia, Danny achieved his third significant success of the year; he had already been victorious on The Masked Singer and celebrated his protege Ava winning ITV’s The Voice in October. Ava was coached alongside fellow McFly member Tom Fletcher. The artist, 38, referred to recent events as a “crazy year” revealing plans for a six-month break to relocate before next year’s tour but felt compelled to seize the opportunity to join I’m A Celeb. His partner Georgia handled the moving process while he competed down under, reports the Mirror.

After securing the title, Danny took to Instagram to convey his thanks, sharing the first social media update since his win. In his post, he wrote, featuring a picture with his I’m A Celeb 2024 fellow contestants: “A message from Danny… This was one of the hardest and most amazing things I have ever done in my life. I would have never been able to have the incredible experience I’ve had, without these people. The campmates made it for me.”

Danny concluded with a shout-out to his fellow final contenders: “A huge congratulations to my fellow finalists Col and Revvo,” and teased about getting back online: “I’ll be back on my phone and socials very soon, Love you all.” The celebrity world was quick to congratulate with Oti Mabuse commenting: “Jungle Family.” Maura Higgins enthusiastically added: “We love you,” and Danny’s jungle companion Melvin Odoom contributed: “Camp Famalam! “.

Danny has been embracing life after the jungle with gusto, recently revealing that he ignored doctors’ dietary advice following his stint on the show. He began with a sunny photo, captioning it: “Very happy king! Still can’t believe that you guys all voted for me. Feels surreal. It’s a proper top of the world feeling. Can’t wait to see you all in the UK soon.” He continued to share more personal moments with his followers, admitting: “Thought you’d might like to know something… When I came out of the jungle, I had two breakfasts. I went a bit mad. I had a banana bread sandwich with fruit, cream and maple syrup, it was amazing, and I also ordered a croissant with eggs, halloumi, avocado – epic! I had a right nice cuppa tea with that, then I had a vanilla milkshake.”

He confessed to overindulging despite medical advice: “Here’s where I slipped up the doc had warned me, ‘Go slow and small’ and did I listen? Not one bit. Paid for it later that night I was terribly ill, up all night. The next morning I took it easy with some fruit. And today? Feeling much better.”

Danny shared his current eating habits and a penchant for sweet treats and tea, admitting: “All in all, I think I’m through the other side. My stomach has shrunk massively but I feel like I’m eating better. Last night I had a bit of pasta, I didn’t eat it all, I shared it with my mum.” He continued: “I can’t eat a full bowl of pasta yet. I’m quite enjoying that to be honest with you because I used to eat too much anyway but it’s just the milkshakes and the crisps and the chocolate. It’s just going down so well. So I’ll let you know how today goes.”
