Fusion Entertainment Signs Actor, Writer & Director Mary Neely

Entertainment

EXCLUSIVE: Fusion Entertainment has signed actor, writer, and director Mary Neely for management, Deadline has learned.

Neely rose to prominence during the Covid lockdowns with her viral reenactments of love duets from classic musicals. Singing both the male and female parts, her lip-syncs caught the attention of Lin-Manuel Miranda and Andrew Lloyd Webber and were named by The New York Times and The Washington Post as among The Best Theater of 2020.

Neely most recently completed production on 20th Century Studios’ untitled Bumble Movie opposite Lily James, Myha’la, Jackson White, and Dan Stevens, which is slated to premiere on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ in all other territories in 2025. She will also appear alongside Bob Odenkirk in Acting for a Cause’s rendition of Tommy Wiseau’s cult classic The Room.

Next month, Neely will see the SXSW premiere of Stars Diner, an indie TV pilot that she co-wrote and co-produced with Tyler Walker and Fidel Ruiz-Healy. The pilot follows an offbeat Fresno diner where an ex-party girl, a volatile chef, and an oddball busboy contend with ghost pirates, volcanoes, and the minor inconvenience of dying. Or Something, a feature Neely co-wrote and co-stars in with Subway Takes creator Kareem Rahma, premiered at last year’s SCAD Savannah Film Festival.

Neely got her start in commercials, most notably as the bubbly Tide Pods Waitress, in a spot that ran in the U.S. and Canada from 2015-2019. Other past projects of hers as a filmmaker include Wacko Smacko, a comedic independent series that was licensed to YouTube, and Pink Trailer, a short film that premiered at SXSW and opened the Palm Springs ShortsFest. Additional acting credits include NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, MGM’s Valley Girl remake, Sony’s Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, and Netflix’s Happiness for Beginners.

In a statement to Deadline, Fusion Entertainment’s co-founder, Chris Evans, said that “Mary Neely’s unique voice and creative versatility as an actor, writer, and director make her a perfect addition to our roster at Fusion Entertainment. From her viral musical reenactments to her impressive work in film and television, Mary’s ability to captivate audiences with humor, authenticity, and originality is truly inspiring. We’re thrilled to support her as she continues to redefine what it means to be a multi-hyphenate talent in today’s industry.”

Evans founded management and strategic advisory company Fusion Entertainment alongside Adam Kersh in 2022. As illustrated by their signing of Neely, the company is focused on multi-hyphenates, also currently repping veterans like Amy Seimetz, Sean Baker, and Ira Sachs, along with newcomers like Joanna Arnow, Kit Zauhar and Tyler Taormina.
