Nigerian gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey, has reacted to Arsenal’s stunning 5-1 victory over Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.

The singer, who was invited to attend the prestigious Presidential Prayer Breakfast in Washington D.C. ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration, has gained more attention in the Nigerian football scene.

Following a dominant performance from the Gunners, who moved to within six points of Premier League leaders Liverpool, Bassey took to his social media page to share his view.

“I hope Arsenal would let us hear word today.” he wrote.

Arsenal’s commanding victory came after City had briefly leveled the score following an early mistake from Nigerian descent, Manuel Akanji.

Despite a nervy moment when Erling Haaland equalised for City, the Gunners responded quickly, with Thomas Partey’s deflected shot and a memorable strike from 18-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Kai Havertz also made up for an earlier miss with a clinical finish, and young Ethan Nwaneri capped the day off with a sensational goal.

It was a significant match result for Mikel Arteta’s troops, who were under pressure to close the gap on Liverpool. Meanwhile, this win reaffirmed their position as title contenders, with a striking distance from the league leaders.

Bassey, known for his involvement in the non-governmental and non-official Presidential Prayer Breakfast, went viral after attending the event to offer prayers for the newly elected President of the United States, Trump, and his government.
