Soccer Out-of-favour Super Eagles star rules out Venezia move amid interest from England and France

Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho has dismissed the prospect of a move to Serie A, despite being deemed surplus to requirements at Sevilla, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Eagles striker has struggled for regular playing time since joining Sevilla in the summer, following his departure from Leicester City.

With limited opportunities in Spain, both Iheanacho and Sevilla have reached a mutual understanding that he could leave the club this winter, either permanently or on loan.

Iheanacho’s situation has become even more complicated following the arrival of compatriot Akor Adams from Montpellier this week. Adams’ signing has further pushed the former Manchester City forward down Sevilla’s pecking order.

Despite his struggles, Iheanacho remains a sought-after striker, with clubs in England, Italy, France, and Greece closely monitoring his situation.

The 27-year-old has already rejected a move to Greek giants Panathinaikos, as a switch to Greece is not a priority for him. Now, it appears he has rebuffed another potential transfer.

According to Sky Sports Germany’s transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, Iheanacho has no interest in joining Venezia, one of his admirers in Italy.

It is hardly surprising that the Venezia project does not appeal to the Nigerian forward. The club has endured a difficult campaign, winning only three matches all season. They also have the joint second-worst attack in Serie A and are among the top candidates for relegation.

While Iheanacho is carefully considering his options before committing to another club, a return to England remains a strong possibility.

Although Leeds United have ruled out a move for the striker, several Championship clubs, including Sheffield United, continue to monitor his situation closely.

He also has admirers in France, with Ligue 1 outfit Olympique Marseille previously linked with a potential transfer.
