No Lookman, no party! Super Eagles star on target as Atalanta cruise past Sturm Graz

Soccer

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman got a goal and an assist for Atalanta in their 5-0 bashing of Sturm Graz at the Gewiss Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.

After their disappointing loss to Napoli last weekend, Atalanta returned to action with a game against Sturm Graz on Tuesday.

However, unlike the last game, Nigerian forward Lookman started from the bench. Despite his absence, Atalanta dominated the first half. Italian striker Mateo Retegui scored the opener for his side in the 12th minute, but that was all they could get despite recording ten goal attempts in the first half.

Atalanta continued with their high tempo in the second half, but this time, they had Lookman, as coach Gian Pero Gasperini introduced him into the game at half time.

The Nigerian forward got to work very early, as he created an opportunity for Charles De Ketelaere who put the ball in the net. But it was ruled out for offside.

Nonetheless, that did not deter La Dea, as Mario Pasalic scored the second for them in the 58th minute. But just before that, Lookman was denied by the Sturm Graz goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen twice. Then, in the 63rd minute, De Ketelaere got his goal to make it 3-0 to Atalanta.

Lookman finally got his goal in the 90th minute, rising to convert an inch-perfect cross from De Ketelaere to make it 4-0.
