EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has picked up a doc on Nedd Brockmann, an electrician who ran 4,000km across Australia to help the homeless.

The one-off from WildBear Entertainment and Bursty Company will be made available on the streamer in Australia and New Zealand on February 10.

RUNN – The Nedd Brockmann Documentary tells the story of a quintessential Aussie bloke with a sense of humor who embarked on a mission in 2022. Motivated by a deep empathy for the homeless crisis gripping his nation and keen to highlight the problem, the electrician set off on a solo 4000km run across the vast continent, starting at Perth’s Cottesloe Beach and ending at Sydney’s Bondi Beach after 47 days. Celebs including Lily James, Hamish Blake and Ash Barty showed support for his endeavor and his run raised millions for the homeless. He has since become a motivational speaker and written two books.

Airing originally on Fox Sports Australia, distributor Fred Media/Radar launched sales at MIPCOM.

Watch on Deadline

“RUNN is a truly memorable documentary that deserves to be seen by as many people as possible, so we are thrilled that Netflix Australia and New Zealand will be offering the title to its subscribers,” said Jimmy Elkington, Head of Sales at Fred Media. “The film paints a heartfelt and compelling picture of one man’s quest to make a difference, weaving elements of humour, determination, and profound humanity into its narrative.”

The doc was directed by Serge Ou, who won a 2024 Australian Directors Guild Award for Best Direction of a Documentary Series Episode or One-Off for his work.
