Four Observations from Bayern Munich’s 3-0 loss to Feyenoord – Bavarian Football Works

Football

One of the most disappointing group stage for Bayern Munich ever. Feyenoord are undoubtedly a team with talent, but the way Bayern performed and lost this game was truly disappointing.

Bayern Munich struggling to get wins on the road

In this Champions League campaign, they have now lost their third away game. That is a scary thought when Bayern could matchup against the likes of Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid in a playoff matchup. The current performance on the road is not cutting it.

High-line is high-risk

This is nothing new, but a high-line is extremely prone to counter attacks and Feyenoord had some incredible balls forward that created their goals. It worked for Hansi Flick, but is it working for Vincent Kompany?

Bayern Munich could use Justin Bijlow

With diminishing returns in goal each year, the clock is ticking on Manuel Neuer. It is a game like this one that makes fans realize just how much Bayern could benefit with some certainty in a goalkeeper going forward. Neuer? Daniel Peretz? Jonas Urbig? Who knows, but Bayern needs someone.

30 attempts, 0 goals

Yes, you read that right. Bayern Munich made 30 attempts on net without scoring a single goal. While Bijlow was massively impressive with six crucial saves, Bayern missed the net 26 times. Credit to Feyenoord, but that sort of accuracy is unacceptable.
