Vin Diesel gives The Rock playful shout-out at Golden Globes 2025 years after ‘candy ass’ feud: ‘Hey, Dwayne’

Vin Diesel and The Rock have buried the hatchet.

The “Fast & Furious” actors — who first sparked feud rumors in 2016 — acknowledged each other’s existence at the Golden Globes 2025, hosted by Nikki Glaser at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday.

When Diesel, 57, hit the stage to present an award, he playfully gave a shout-out to his longtime frenemy.

As soon as he reached the microphone, Diesel looked down at The Rock — real name Dwight Johnson — in the audience and said hi before presenting.

“Hey, Dwayne,” Diesel stated.

The Rock chuckled in response as the audience burst out in laughter. The former co-stars exchanged smiles and moved on.

The Rock ignited beef rumors when he seemingly referred to unnamed members of the cast as “candy asses” in a since-deleted social media post.

“Some [male costars] conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t,” he wrote via Instagram in August 2016. “The ones that don’t are too chicken s – – t to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you’re right.”

In a follow-up post, the “Baywatch” star added, “Family is gonna have differences of opinion and fundamental core beliefs. To me, conflict can be a good thing, when it’s followed by great resolution. I was raised on healthy conflict and welcome it. And like any family, we get better from it.”

The Rock added fuel to the feud fire after production ended on “The Fate of the Furious” by sharing another Instagram showing gratitude to some of his co-stars, including Scott Eastwood and Nathalie Emmanuel, but not mentioning Diesel.

Diesel later promised to expose the drama, stating, “Honestly, give me a second and I will tell you everything. Everything.”

The Rock touched on the drama, alleging it was a publicity stunt.

“I’ve been in the game a long time,” he said of the conflict. “Would Universal have preferred that didn’t happen? Sure, we talked about it. The irony is after that and as they do their tracking and all their analysis, the interest shot through the roof to a whole other level.”

They have since put their differences aside.

“I don’t think the world really realizes how close we are, in a weird way,” Diesel told USA Today in 2017. “I think some things may be blown out of proportion. I don’t think that was his intention. I know he appreciates how much I work this franchise. In my house, he’s Uncle Dwayne.”

He also claimed he was the punching bag for the franchise.

“I protect the franchise,” Diesel added. “I protect everybody including Dwayne. I protected Dwayne more than he’ll ever know. And it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t have to know. But he appreciates it. He knows it. Dwayne has only got one Vin in his life. Dwayne Johnson only has one big brother in this film world and that’s me.”

In 2023, The Rock said that he and Diesel “put all the past behind us.”
