Who Are Andrew Beck’s Parents? Meet Texans Fullback’s Veteran Father Chris and Mother Sally Beck

Football

Texans‘ Andrew Beck is quite a known figure in the world of NFL and philanthropy! A 6’3”, 255-pound fullback, he transitioned from playing football at the University of Texas (2014–2018) to the NFL in 2019. While he was initially undrafted, soon after he signed with the Patriots and later he joined the Denver Broncos. And, in 2023, he switched to the fullback position from TE, as he signed a two-year contract with the Texans.

Born into a military family, Andrew’s father, Chris Beck, has deeply influenced his values. And, now he is committed both to his team and community, through initiatives like “Beck’s Bags” for veterans. Here’s more about his parents, Chris and Sally Beck, to whom Andrew is forever grateful.

Andrew Beck’s dad, Chris Beck, has served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army, giving his services for more than 30 years. He has received multiple awards, including the Silver Star Medal, Legion of Merit, and Bronze Star Medal. In 1993, he completed his graduation from the United States Military Academy, obtaining a degree in civil engineering, but soon after, he joined the army.

Moving 21 times during his military service, he also got to spend time at Fort Hood, Germany, and Texas, including three times in Afghanistan and once in Iraq. And, due to such frequent postings, he missed crucial events in Andrew’s life. He is particularly emotional about the time when his son wore football pads for the first time, at the age of 7.

Given his long absences, it was Chris’ wife, Sally Beck, who took full responsibility of taking care of their two sons. On her X handle, @sallycbeck, she describes herself as a “Proud Army wife. Proud momma of two great young men.” Supportive of her son’s football aspirations, she has always been the shield for her son. And, even now, she frequently joins her family on the sidelines to cheer for Andrew. When Andrew made the 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, Chris had humorously remarked, “I’m pretty sure he probably heard his mom through the TV she was yelling so loud,” as stated in Click2Houston’s article from November 2023.

Football Andrew Beck remains indebted to his military background for his NFL success

Beck’s dad, Christopher’s military background, gave his son the impetus to dream high. With the rigor to put mind and effort into football, Andrew learned the basic tenets of discipline from his dad, who pushed him into the NFL fields. Not just this. In November 2023, Andrew’s dad was also recognized on Salute to Service Day for his elongated years of service.

Talking about his experience as he relocated with his parents, Andrew adds, “My parents have probably done eight or nine since I’ve been gone. We were constantly bouncing around, getting to see the world. It was great. It was an opportunity I cherished, one that moved me to help and support the military like I am,” as stated in The Athletic’s article in 2021.

Before he joined college, he made 11 moves. And, even though constant moving was tiresome, making it difficult to uproot his old friendships, Andrew recalled that sports made it easy for him to make new friends. He added, “Football played a large part in that. Frankly, you use sports to help you make friends when you move somewhere else.”

Given his long association with the military domain through his dad, Andrew continues to give back, particularly to the military community. And, for this, his dad is excessively proud of him.
