Soccer “The fire is still burning” – Super Eagles striker hints at Eredivisie return

Super Eagles and Rangers striker, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers, has hinted a possible return to the Dutch top-flight after falling down the pecking order at Ibrox, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 30-year-old has seen his playing time reduce in the last few months, as he’s blown hot and cold in front of goal. Moroccan forward, Hamza Igamane, is now Philippe Clement’s preferred choice to lead Rangers attack.

Dessers has been linked with a move away from Rangers. At his age, he’s hungry to play as many games and score as many goals as he possibly can before a physical decline begins, and is set to do that elsewhere if an offer comes in.

While he’s admitted he’ll put the team first and be ready to help the Gers whenever he’s called upon, Dessers also hinted he’d love a return to play in the Eredivisie, the league where he had his big break.

“Back to the Netherlands for me? Difficult. Feyenoord now have three excellent strikers. The other clubs I played for also have a special place in my heart, but I do have a certain price and there are only a few clubs that can pay that.

In any case, I want to play in a serious competition, for the prizes. The fire is still burning,” the former Genk striker said in quotes revealed by The Scottish Sun.

Dessers’ career in the Dutch top-flight league started with NAC Breda before he joined FC Utrecht. After two years, he joined Heracles where he scored 18 goals and provided six assists in 29 games.

His success there earned him a move to Belgian Pro League side, KRC Genk. Since then, he’s played for Feyenoord, Cremonese and most recently, Rangers.
