Football legend David Beckham had a bizarre request for UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov when they first met.
UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov leaves fans in awe of his presence when he meets his worldwide following. High-profile figures, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, have been extremely complimentary of the UFC Hall of Famer in recent years.
Nurmagomedov’s worldwide fame hasn’t slowed down since retiring from fighting in 2020. While becoming one of MMA’s top coaches, including his training of UFC 311 stars Islam Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov, he’s still under a massive spotlight.
Nurmagomedov is humble by nature, due to his faith and his rigorous upbringing in Dagestan. But he showed the tendency to smash his opponents inside the Octagon, retiring with a perfect 29-0 record.
Football legend David Beckham, an avid UFC fan, wanted Nurmagomedov to help him gain leverage as a parent of four children when they met shortly after the former champion’s retirement.

In a recent interview with Gorilla Energy, Nurmagomedov explained what Beckham wanted during their first face-to-face encounter.
“At the end of 2018, I flew to Paris. David Beckham was there and started talking about how he and his son were watching my fights,” Nurmagomedov explained.
“He asked that I record a video for him saying ‘I smash your face if you don’t obey your father!’”
Unfortunately, the video that Nurmagomedov made for Beckham hasn’t been made public, but his message likely helped Beckham’s parenting.

Football Khabib Nurmagomedov will play a key role in UFC 311 title fights
Nurmagomedov is hours away from what will be a busy night at UFC 311 in Los Angeles. He’ll be in the corner for the top two fights of the card as Makhachev and his cousin Umar battle for UFC gold.
Makhachev faces Renato Moicano in the UFC 311 main event after a last-second switch-up due to Arman Tsarukyan’s withdrawal. Moicano was supposed to face Beneil Dariush in a main card bout.
Nurmagomedov does a lot for his devoted fanbase, including Beckham, and his story shows a humorous side to the stoic UFC legend.
