LeoVegas launches online sports betting in Germany

LeoVegas Group is expanding its presence in Germany by launching a sports betting offering to run alongside its existing online casino vertical in the country.

Announced today (29 November), the sportsbook will be accessible across all 16 states in Germany. Sports betting will be available on the LeoVegas.de website, which already offers online slots to players in the country.

The operator will promote the new offering via a nationwide marketing campaign that will launch in December. Entitled ‘Thrill Seeker’ this will run across various platforms including TV and affiliates.

LeoVegas has been running online slots under its German gaming licence that was issued in March last year. The licence was issued to LVSports Limited, an entity of LeoVegas Group.

“Launching our sportsbook offering in Germany is a very exciting step for LeoVegas Group as we continue to grow and strengthen our foothold,” LeoVegas Group CEO Gustaf Hagman said.

“Germany is one of Europe’s great sports powerhouses. We are confident players will enjoy LeoVegas.de as a one-stop-shop for the greatest igaming experience.”

MGM continues to drive expansion at LeoVegas

The new Germany launch marks the latest expansion by LeoVegas since it was taken over by MGM Resorts International. LeoVegas was taken on by MGM in November 2022 in a deal worth approximately $604 million (£476 million/€571.5 million).

Last September, LeoVegas closed the purchase of game developer Push Gaming. In June this year, LeoVegas also agreed to acquire the US sportsbook and online casino platforms of Tipico Group.

In September, LeoVegas also announced a development in-house with the launch of its new LeoVegas Studios gaming studio. Dedicated to creating slot games, LeoVegas Studios is now developing slot games exclusive to the wider group.

Alongside LeoVegas, the group also counts Pink Casino, Royal Panda and, in the UK and the Netherlands, BetMGM among its brands.
