Super Eagles B team: Eric Chelle to oversee three coaches for CHAN tournament– Eguavoen excluded

Malian gaffer, Eric Chelle, will not lead the Super Eagles B team to the 8th African Nations Championship tournament, Soccernet.ng reports.

Chelle’s new appointment have sparked many question on if Daniel Ogunmodede, and Fidelis Ilechukwu will lead the Nigerian home-based team to the tournament which will be held in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

It has been confirmed by the Nigeria Football Communications department that Ogunmodede, Ilechukwu, alongside Olatunji Baruwa, who qualified team for the CHAN tournament will maintain their position.

However, the former Valenciennes CF defender will come in a Supervisory role, while the trio will mainly be in charge of the team at the tournament.

In a new development, the new coach have jetted to Ikenne, alongside the Technical Director of the NFF, Augustine Eguavoen, where the lads have camped in preparation for the tournament.

Stand-in Super Eagles coach, Ogunmodede, alongside his two other colleagues, played a key role in securing the ticket for the CHAN Eagles against the Black Galaxies of Ghana.

In Accra, the Super Eagles home based team secured a toothless draw before playing host to the Ghanaian side in Uyo, where they secured a comfortable 3-1 victory to book their place at the upcoming tournament.

With Ogunmodede, Ilechukwu, and Baruwa’s familiarity with the team, it is expected that their cohesion will strengthen the squad’s unity and boost their chances of success at CHAN.
