Coco Gauff Invests in Unrivaled Basketball League, Hopes to ‘Uplift Women’s Sports’

Women’s tennis star Coco Gauff has invested in the professional 3-on-3 women’s basketball league, Unrivaled Basketball.

The 20-year-old shared a statement on social media, emphasizing her commitment in “uplifting women’s sports.”

“My dad always wanted me to follow in his footsteps and play basketball,” Gauff wrote. “Haha sorry dad but this is as close as it will get. In all seriousness, I’m incredibly my grateful to get the opportunity to uplift women’s sports and I am super excited to join the @Unrivaledwbb family! I can’t wait to watch.”

Unrivaled is an “innovative” 3-on-3 women’s basketball league founded by U.S. Olympians Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart. The league features six teams, each with six players and is set to debut on Friday, Jan. 17.

Gauff expressed her excitement to Unrivaled, stating she is “thrilled to be joining as an investor” ahead of the league’s inaugural season.

“Basketball is one of my favorite sports, and the chance to support a league that’s redefining the game is exciting,” Gauff said. “I look forward to being part of this movement and continuing to help elevate women’s sports to new heights.”

Other notable investors in the league include former U.S. soccer Olympian Alex Morgan, NBA stars Carmelo Anthony and Giannis Antetokounmpo, former Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, actors Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, among others.
