Tony Elumelu: Why Victor Osimhen dedicated his Göztepe goal to Toby and Tony

Super Eagles talisman Victor Osimhen opened the scoring for Galatasaray during their matchday 17 Super Lig clash against Göztepe at RAMS Park, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian international coolly converted a penalty in the 10th minute, sending Goztepe goalie, Mateusz Lis, the wrong way.

After his goal, the Napoli-owned forward revealed a Galatasaray jersey inscribed with the message, “Happy Birthday, Tony and Toby.”

Tony and Toby, the sons of Nigerian business mogul Tony Elumelu, recently celebrated their 10th birthday on January 5. Osimhen’s gesture honoured their request for a birthday dedication, as the match took place the day before their special day.

“Throwback to last week when Victor Osimhen promised the T-Men to dedicate his next goal as their 10th birthday gift—and, as always, he delivered in style,” Tony Elumelu shared on social media.

Osimhen’s relationship with the UBA Group CEO has been growing over time. The two were previously seen celebrating together after Osimhen’s Serie A triumph, with the striker gifting Elumelu a signed jersey.

Additionally, Osimhen has been a regular attendee at Elumelu’s famous all-white parties, which recently featured top Nigerian music stars like Wizkid and Burna Boy.

With his goal against Goztepe, the former LOSC Lille forward has notched 10 goals in 12 Super Lig appearances, and tallying 13 goals in total for the Yellow-Reds.
