Texas survived quite a scare from Arizona State in double overtime after building a double-digit second-half lead, allowing many fans to finally exhale after the 39-31 victory. Famed actor Glen Powell among them.
The Twisters star might as well have been in a blender during the game, what with the back and forth.
Glen Powell, who attended Texas briefly in the mid-2000s before beginning his acting career in earnest, chimed in after the fact on Wednesday evening.
“There’s a new savior in town…” Powell wrote on Twitter. “Most stressful hangover of the year, but proud of my Horns for finishing the job. Happy New Year. Hook ‘Em.”
That savior? None other than quarterback Quinn Ewers.
Much to the delight of Glen Powell, Ewers recovered from a costly late interception that allowed Arizona State to tie things up in the waning moments, flushing it from his system and responding perfectly in overtime. Texas might not have survived otherwise.

The veteran quarterback threw a pair of touchdowns in overtime, striking quickly to send the Sun Devils reeling.
Texas took advantage in the second overtime by going for a two-point conversion and hitting on it, forcing Arizona State to chase the game in a big way. It was too much pressure, though fans like Glen Powell still had to sweat out the finish.
On Arizona State’s possession, quarterback Sam Leavitt floated a ball toward the front left pylon in the end zone, only to be intercepted by Andrew Mukuba, ending the game.
The win put Texas into the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, set to take on Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl come Jan. 10.
It appears that Glen Powell will be watching again.
