Victor Osimhen: Napoli-owned star back on transfer radar as two European clubs renew interest

Soccer

Super Eagles attacker, Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has resurrected transfer speculation with two major European clubs, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian international has continued to shine in the Turkish Super Lig, scoring a total of 10 goals and providing five assists in 14 appearances for the Yellow-Reds so far this season.

Per reports, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are both said to be monitoring the situation closely, with potential moves in the January transfer window.

Chelsea’s Contact with Osimhen

Footballfancast, citing Simon Philips, Chelsea have made initial contact regarding a potential move for Osimhen, who had been heavily linked with the Premier League side over the summer.

Despite their failed pursuit of the Nigerian striker in the 2024 summer transfer window, Chelsea remain keen on adding him to their ranks, alongside other options such as Liam Delap, Viktor Gyokeres, and Victor Boniface.

While it’s unclear whether the Blues will formalize their interest in January, the former LOSC Lille forward remains on their striker shortlist for 2025.

PSG’s Approach to Napoli for January Move

Paris Saint-Germain, who were also interested in Osimhen during the summer, have renewed their efforts. French outlet RMC Sport reports that PSG has already made initial contact with both Napoli and Osimhen’s entourage to gauge his openness to a move.

Despite their reluctance to meet Napoli’s €100 million asking price over the summer, PSG is reportedly exploring the possibility of a loan move with an option to buy.

However, Napoli’s €75 million release clause could complicate negotiations, as the deal would involve three parties: PSG, Napoli, and Galatasaray.

Osimhen’s Commitment to Galatasaray

Despite the growing interest from top European clubs, Osimhen has made it clear that he intends to see out his season-long loan at Galatasaray.

“They are talking about January. I am here until the end of the season. I don’t know what Galatasaray and Napoli are talking about after that… We will talk when they tell me. This is a club I really like.” Osimhen earlier stated in an interview.

Following these comments by Osimhen, this shows that Chelsea, PSG, or other clubs interested in his service would have to wait till the summer of 2025 before a move can materialise.
