Eyeing 75-0 Wrestling Prodigy Bo Bassett Eyeing David Taylor Encounter As Future Rumors Grow Wild

The 2024-25 NCAA wrestling season is currently seeing a ton of outstanding performances by many up-and-coming wrestlers. But the community is always a step ahead and already has its eyes set on a big prospect, Bo Bassett. The high school wrestler is looking forward to grabbing his 75th win, as he is on an incredible streak of 74-0 on the mat.

Furthermore, Bassett is set to visit Oklahoma State University this weekend, as the David Taylor-led Cowboys will be looking forward to dominating Wyoming. The announcement of this visit of one of the top prospects of 2026 has ignited many rumors as another major young wrestler might find his home at a dominant OSU.

Bo Bassett looking forward to a college wrestling experience

Wrestling, just like any other sport, has various divisions. Aspiring high school wrestlers come to college with big dreams of delivering great performances just to be seen out there on a national level, which eventually creates the path of their international career. Bo Bassett knows his potential, and he’s doing the same by visiting many colleges, such as Iowa and Michigan. However, this time on his list is OSU, and he is completely aware of the enormous changes that the Cowboys have gone through for their 2024-25 season.

David Taylor, the new head coach of OSU, has been under the radar of many prior to the season. However, the moment the campaign started, his wrestlers immediately dominated the mat. The promises he made the moment he joined Oklahoma, leaving Penn State, are something on his bucket list to complete and showcase his rivals how fierce of a competitor he can be while coaching talented wrestlers under his wing.

Bassett being one of the top prodigies in the nation, is also under the radar of many colleges, but it all comes down to his choice to see which one of them fits his ambitions. As per BVM Sports, as the 18-year-old will be attending the weekend, there might be a chance of him crossing paths with Taylor. This will be a big meet-up; as known by the head coach’s persona, he might already be interested in the prospect as he is planning to take OSU to the top of the NCAA rankings in the coming seasons.

It’s not been much time since Taylor has set foot in Oklahoma, and the Cowboys have gone through a ton of changes. And even though OSU has their two 2026 prospects locked in, who are Rocklin Zinkin and Kaden Purler, the roster that the head coach is planning will openly welcome talented wrestlers like Bo Bassett. The 18-year-old will be watching his potential college team compete against Wyoming after a dominant performance against Utah Valley. While OSU’s head coach is proud of his wrestlers, owing to their season-opener performances, he’s still expecting a lot from them in the future.

David Taylor’s strong mindset

Coaching a team like OSU is no easy feat, and David Taylor, who kicked off his coaching career in the current season, has a ton of challenges to face. However, the Cowboys’ season opener against Utah Valley was something mesmerizing, but the new head coach doesn’t want to settle for something normal. He’s not here to win a single match and call it the day, but there’s a standard he wants to uphold while coaching these future wrestling stars. 

While talking to FloWrestling, Taylor revealed that he wants his wrestlers to keep pushing their limits and just not settle for a certain score. “No reason to be content if you’re up by a 7. Then score 8. Score 8? You can score 15,” the OSU head coach emphasized. He is focused on the wins, but moreover, he wants the Cowboys to develop and become better versions of themselves even though they have to take a bit of risk by pushing themselves on the mat. Taylor’s competitiveness is very clear to any opponent; as time goes on, it will just grow, and the Cowboys will be more hungry for dominant wins in the NCAA season.
