‘Keep old kids’ toy in car & you’ll NEVER have dirty cup holders again’ says mum who discovers £1.10 tub with secret use

A MUM has discovered a cheap hack that ensures you never have dirty cup holders again.

The savvy woman, Jill, advises other parents to keep an old kids’ toy in car as the £1.10 tub has a secret use.

She demonstrates the trick in a YouTube video shared by Fox 2.

The mum begins by saying: “I’m sure you’ve all seen those adverts for a slime that cleans all the dust and stuff out of your vehicle.

“I wondered ‘do you have to really buy that or can you just use something like Play-Doh?'”

Jill removes roughly half of her yellow dough from the pot before beginning to use it to dab the inside of her car.

She says: “It works pretty well for cleaning up all the spots where crumbs get down in the trim lines.”

She adds: “If your car is like mine there’s always people eating in my car and the cup holders get gross.

“It just picks it all up, you just keep folding it over.”

Although she appears impressed with the hack she does admit it’s “not perfect but it gets a lot”.

At the end of the clip she reveals all the dirt and grime the play-Doh has collected.

The dough can be bought for just £1.10 from Asda and there’s an array of colour choice.

It comes as a cleaning whizz revealed a 21p hack to stop water clinging to wing mirrors – and the solution will likely be in your cupboard.

Tiktoker Chequanxiaoqiao took to the platform to share several ways the household item can come in handy.

She posted a video which begins with her asking the question: “Why do veteran drivers always have potatoes in their car?

“Do you think it’s just for fun?”

She adds: “Of course not. Potatoes have several wonderful uses in cars.”

Cleaning lights

After using lights for a long time the metal parts on the front can collect rust which is difficult to remove.

“You just need to point the cross section of the potato at it and wipe it gently,” says Chequanxiaoqiao.

She added: “Flush with water and the rust will be cleared away.”

Coffee cup clean

Many drivers like to drink coffee when they’re behind the wheel and the bottom of the cup can collect stubborn dirt.

But luckily the savvy woman has a trick up her sleeve.

“I put chopped potatoes in it,” she says.

Then she adds water and waits three minuites.

When the time is up the stain has been removed.

Oil on windshield

When a car hasn’t been cleaned in a while a film of oil can form on the windshield and the side windows.

But, if you wipe it with a potato and rinse it with water “the glass will become clean and translucent”.

The TikToker finished the video by saying: “Absolutely practical potato knowledge.”
