One UI 6.0 based on Android 14 destined for imminent launch in 2023

The latest official software for Samsung mobile devices is currently One UI 5.1 based on Android 13. However, its major 6.0 upgrade is now allegedly hot on its heels, with a launch that may coincide with the comparatively early launch of the OEM’s next premium Galaxy Tab S9-series tablets and Galaxy Z Fold- and Flip-series foldables. It may start to arrive in the form of betas for smartphones such as the Galaxy S23 Ultra soon.

The next-gen Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Tab S9-series tablets are now tipped to launch during an Unpacked event now tipped to occur “anytime between July 25-27” of 2023, and not within the first 2 weeks of August as usual.

However, neither device is thought likely to debut with the latest possible version of One UI out of the box (regardless of how high-end they might be), simply because it will be too early for the OS to come out of its beta phase by then.

The supposedly major software upgrade for Samsung Galaxy-series device is now also thought to start becoming available “in the third quarter” of 2023.

This rumor may be mostly based on the fact that eligible Google Pixels have gained early access to Android 14 already – nevertheless, it has tech vloggers advising interested users with new devices such as the Galaxy S23 Ultra to sign up for its corresponding beta via Samsung’s Members app.

As for more widespread availability, One UI 6.0 should be available to all Galaxy devices still eligible for at least 1 more major software upgrade.
