Ahead of its expected August debut at Unpacked, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab S9 series has now made its first trip to Geekbench, with single-core and multi-core test results that edge out the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Samsung typically releases its premium tablets in eighteen-month cycles, which would see the next-gen Galaxy Tab S9 series debut in August. Details of the Tab S9+ and Tab S9 Ultra have recently surfaced in the wild, and it appears the range-topping model has now stopped over at Geekbench for the first time, well ahead of its expected launch.

On Geekbench 6, the tablet—with the model number SM-X916B—seemingly records a single-core score of 2054, and a multi-core score of 5426. Those numbers seem to be even higher than the standard tested figures for the Galaxy S23 series, with Geekbench officially listing the S23 Ultra with scores of 1957 and 5258 on the single-core and multi-core tests respectively. Ergo, about a 5% CPU advantage to the tablet.

The chipset on board the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is, of course, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy—evidenced by its CPU results and the 3.36 GHz clock speed of its prime core. Earlier rumors claimed Samsung may have been planning to launch the Tab S9 series with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, but it’s safe to write off those reports as misguided.
