Lando Norris a été éliminé en Q2 et s’élancera 13e de la course du Grand Prix d’Australie. Le pilote McLaren F1 a commis plusieurs erreurs durant la séance, et il regrette que la limite de stabilité de la MCL60 soit si difficile à trouver.

“Trop de fois, j’ai trop attaqué. Je n’ai pas réussi à tout mettre bout à bout pour atteindre la Q3, j’étais beaucoup trop à la limite” a déclaré Norris. “C’était dur, je pensais qu’on ferait mieux, et je pense qu’on pouvait faire un peu mieux.”

“Je n’ai pas piloté comme je devrais le faire et je suis un peu déçu de moi-même, mais c’est comme ça. J’ai fait des erreurs dans différents virages, et quand j’en faisais une, je faisais mieux au tour suivant mais je faisais une erreur ailleurs.”

“Je n’ai pas réussi à tout mettre bout à bout, et j’ai l’impression que je dois piloter à 95 % plutôt que 100 % car quand j’essaie d’atteindre la limite, je suis au-delà de celle-ci. C’est difficile de réussir à la trouver.”

Oscar Piastri n’a même pas franchi la Q1,pour une poignée de centièmes de seconde. Une déception pour le héros local qui ne se cherche pas d’excuse : “C’est dommage d’être éliminé, il m’a manqué des dixièmes.”

“Je pense qu’il y a un peu de marge à trouver au niveau du pilotage. C’était un bon tour, mais rien d’exceptionnel. C’est très serré dans le peloton cette année, et je n’étais pas assez rapide.”

L’Australien espère remonter en course : “Oui, j’essaierai de faire de mon mieux. Les dépassements ne sont pas simples ici, ce n’est pas un circuit sur lequel il est historiquement facile de dépasser, mais je tenterai de faire de mon mieux.”
