Word on the grapevine indicates Xiaomi may not launch the Xiaomi Pad 6 series for a few months. More details of the tablet lineup have now surfaced from a typically reliable Chinese source, along with word of a Redmi tablet expected to launch soon.

Recent rumors tipped Xiaomi to launch the Pad 6 series soon, with some sources indicating a debut in March or April. Going by new info, those rumors may have been a tad too optimistic, with Xiaomi’s next-gen tablets apparently set to launch later than earlier rumored.

According to Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi Pad 6 series is not being readied for a March or April release, with the tablets instead set to launch “later”. While it’s unclear when that will be exactly, comments on the leaker’s Weibo page seem to indicate the Xiaomi Pad 6 series could debut in early June instead, alongside the Xiaomi 13 Ultra

That said, though, the leaker clarifies that Xiaomi will equip a Xiaomi Pad 6 series model with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, with the company eschewing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 due to cost concerns. As it stands, fans of the Xiaomi Pad 6 series can expect a Snapdragon 870 model and a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 one, likely the Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro.

While the Xiaomi Pad 6 series will debut “later”, Digital Chat Station claims Xiaomi is set to debut a new tablet under its Redmi brand. That tablet will be the one to launch soon—this month or in April. Actual details of the Redmi tablet are unknown but it can be expected to be positioned lower than the tablets in Xiaomi’s main lineup, likely with a low-end SoC and budget specs.
