Alienware has announced new gaming headsets — the wired AW520H and the dual-mode wireless AW720H. Both headsets come with 40 mm Hi-Res certified drivers, noise cancelling retractable boom mics, support for Dolby Atmos, memory foam, and AlienFX lighting.

Alienware is introducing a couple of new gaming headsets today. The wired AW520H and the wireless AW720H. These headsets feature 40 mm Hi-Res certified drivers with support for Dolby Atmos.

The Alienware AW520H connects via USB (a Type-C to 3.5 mm adapter comes in the box) and is compatible with not only PCs but a host of other devices including game consoles. The AW720H, on the other hand, uses 2.4 GHz wireless via a Type-C dongle but can also make use of 3.5 mm wired connectivity via an adapter.

According to Dell, the Alienware AW720H can last for 30 hours on a single charge. However, this is at 50% volume and with just multimedia playback with AlienFX lighting on. But the company says that it is possible to get up to 6 hours of gaming on wireless with just a 15-minute charge.

The AW720H also offers on-headset controls for game/chat balance, volume, mic mute, and on/off functions.

On the speakers front, both headsets offer memory foam earpads with a breathable fabric cover for comfortable wear during prolonged gaming sessions. The Alienware AW520H has a frequency response of 20 Hz to 40,000 Hz with a loudness of 117 dB and a 32 Ω impedance. The AW720H has a similar frequency response and impedance but with a loudness of 105 dB.

Coming to the boom microphone, both the AW520H and the AW720H feature retractable boom microphones that support AI-powered noise cancelling. The mic can be deployed easily or stowed back depending on need.  The AW520H’s mic has a sensitivity of -40 dbV/Pa and a 61 dB SNR while the Alienware AW720H has a -45 dBV/Pa sensitivity and a 53 dB SNR.

The Alienware AW520H wired gaming headset will be available in Q2 starting from US$99.99 while the Alienware AW720H dual-mode wireless gaming headset is available now for US$159.99.
