Kyle Busch has had an inspiring 20-year-long NASCAR journey with over 600 Cup Series races under his belt, earning him a legendary status in the sport. However, the two-time Cup Series champ is also infamous for losing his calm on numerous occasions throughout the course of his career. As a result, Busch has often found himself amid many controversies and rivalries over the years. One such feud of Busch, involving Dale Earnhardt Jr. lasted for almost a decade. Recently, Kyle Busch’s longtime friend and executive producer of his Amazon documentary, Derek Daugherty, shed light on how Dale Jr. chose to take the high road when four other ex-rivals refused to be a part of ‘Rowdy’.
During a recent interview, Derek Daugherty gave an insight into Kyle Busch’s 90-minute documentary ‘Rowdy’ which was released earlier this month right before the Daytona 500. Moreover, Daugherty also talked about the roles of Busch’s old rival Dale Earnhardt Jr’s in the documentary while commending the two-time Busch Series champ for being supportive.

In a recent interview with Awfully Announcing, Daugherty was asked to share his experience of getting Dale Earnhardt Jr. involved in Kyle Busch’s documentary, given their heated rivalry in the past. Derek Daugherty revealed that Dale Jr. had come a long way from being a shy guy when he met the NASCAR veteran nearly two decades ago. Moreover, Daugherty stated, “You know, he’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. He does tell it how it is.”

Further, Kyle Busch’s confidant Derek shared that he instructed Dale Jr. ‘to be as honest as possible’ during his interviews for the documentary. Derek Daugherty also assured the two-time Daytona 500 winner that he would try to get other rival drivers of Kyle Busch to do the same. However, Busch’s biggest rivals were not as interested in being a part of his documentary as Dale Earnhardt Jr. was.
