The Check Up: John Baackes, L.A. Care Health Plan

John Baackes, CEO of L.A. Care Health Plan, joins the Check Up to discuss his company’s role in California’s ambitious CalAIM program, a five-year, $9 billion plan to expand the state’s Medicaid program targeting those sickest and most in need of healthcare and provide a whole-person approach to fulfilling those needs. In its first year, CalAim has focused on enhanced care management, dental care and behavioral health support.

L.A. Care Health Plan is a publicly operated health plan serving over 2.5 million people in Los Angeles County.
