Google has commented on the state of scrolling issues on Pixel 7 series devices. With the stable release of Android 13 QPR2 around the corner, it seems that Google’s latest flagships could soon be rid of performance problems that affect some units.
It appears that Google is working towards resolving scrolling issues with its latest smartphones. To recap, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro tend to not scroll as smoothly as other smartphones, despite the presence of 90 Hz and 120 Hz displays, respectively. As the comparison video below highlights, scrolling can sometimes look rather sluggish, although this is not always the case.
To date, there have been reports of success with some workarounds, such as reducing touchscreen sensitivity. Additionally, other Pixel 7 series owners claim that past software updates have mitigated the issue. Google has now confirmed that it working to resolve the problem via its Issue Tracker platform. The company has not yet announced a timetable for rolling out the fix; some Googlers note that recent QPR2 beta builds have not shipped with the issue, though.
As such, Android Police asserts that Google could bundle the fix in its next Feature Drop, which may land within a few weeks. Google has not announced that QPR2 will reach stable status in March, but there has been nothing to suggest that Android 13’s next quarterly update has been delayed. Incidentally, Google has already released the first Android 14 preview, which is available as Developer Preview 1 on Pixel devices from the Pixel 4a 5G onwards.
