L&Q homes under construction at Barking Riverside in east London
London-based housing association London & Quadrant (L&Q) has launched a search for consultants for a £200m structural and civil engineering services framework.
The housing association, which owns and manages homes for 250,000 people across 95,000 properties in London and the South East, has pulled together the four-year framework covering civil engineering consultancy, structural engineering consultancy and architectural, engineering and planning services.
The winning firms will provide services for L&Q’s self-delivered new-build projects. The closing date for submissions is 13 March, with the contract starting on 12 May, running until May 2027.
The £200m framework announcement comes after social housing provider Sovereign Housing Association launched a search for contractors to build up to £800m-worth of new housing across 16 separate multi-supplier framework agreements.
The association owns and manages 60,000 homes across Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Dorset, Devon, Wiltshire, the West of England and the Isle of Wight.
The total number of homes to be built has not been disclosed, but sites will range from five to 500 homes, with the lots split by geographical areas within the east and west of England. The lots will also be based on the estimated size of each project with reference to the number of units that will need to be delivered.
Earlier this month, One Housing Group, which owns and manages about 17,000 properties in London and the South East, announced plans to team up with a development partner to deliver a £150m scheme at Stewart Street in Tower Hamlets. The project includes 84 apartments across two blocks, as well as a community centre.
