E-40 Donates $100K To Grambling State University’s Music Department: ‘We Appreciate The Impact Your Gift Will Have’

E-40

Bay Area legend E-40 recently granted a hefty donation to his alma mater, Grambling State University (GSU)! Specifically, E-40 cut the Louisiana HBCU a $100K check, which will be used to benefit its music department.

The Institution Renamed Its Recording Studio After The Rapper

The news came on Friday, as E-40 dropped by the institution—which he attended back in the day—to join in for the annual Prez Says event.

While visiting the campus, E-40 presented the institution with a check for $100K. The “Tell Me When To Go” rapper was joined by his wife, as well as GSU President Richard Gallot and Dr. Nikole Roebuck, Grambling’s Music Department Chair and Director of Bands.

GSU went on to acknowledge E-40’s donation with an Instagram post. Notably, this upload noted that the recording studio in Grambling’s Performing Arts Center would be renamed the “Earl ‘E-40’ Stevens Recording Studio.”

“We had a very special guest return to campus for Prez Says and to present a special donation to the university. @e40 and @dr.nikkiroe combined forces to make this special moment happen and rename the recording studio in the Performing Arts Center to the Earl “E-40″ Stevens Recording Studio.”

The very end of the caption warmly read, “It was our pleasure to have you back on campus, and we appreciate the impact your gift will have on our students.”

E-40 Joins The Growing List Of Stars Who Have Donated To HBCUs

E-40 definitely pulled through with his donation, and he’s among the many stars who have given back to HBCUs recently!

Just last month, Spike Lee unveiled a fellowship program for HBCU students in Atlanta, as The Shade Room previously reported.

Additionally, back in December, Missy Elliott donated $20K to Norfolk State University ahead of receiving an honorary doctorate from the institution.

Charlamagne got in on the giving as well, as he established a scholarship fund at South Carolina State University by providing a $250K donation. Notably, it was named “The Ford Family Endowed Scholarship Fund” in honor of his mother and grandma, and it benefits women majoring in English or communications, along with those studying to be a mental health professional.

Shoutout to E-40 for coming through and supporting Grambling State University!
