Garmin has unveiled the Vivomove Trend, a 40 mm hybrid smartwatch. Available in four colours, the Vivomove Trend retails from US$269.99 and supports all core Garmin smartwatch features, such as Garmin Pay and the Garmin Connect app.

Garmin has finally released the Vivomove Trend, nearly a year after references to the smartwatch first emerged online. As expected, the Vivomove Trend is a hybrid smartwatch with a small display that can show basic information. While Garmin’s marketing images suggest that the smartwatch has two displays above and beneath its physical hands, the single display measures 25.6 x 18.8 mm and operates at 254 x 346 pixels. Meanwhile, the Vivomove Trend itself measures 40.4 x 40.4 x 11.9 mm, supports 20 mm quick-release straps and weighs 43.3 g with its default silicone strap attached.

According to Garmin, the smartwatch combines a stainless steel bezel with a fibre-reinforced polymer case. Additionally, the Vivomove Trend is 5 ATM water resistant and should last up to 5 days between charges in smartwatch mode. Alternatively, the smartwatch will need recharging after 6 days when used in watch mode with its smart features disabled. The Vivomove Trend supports Garmin’s usual suite of smartwatch apps and services too, including Garmin Pay and the Garmin Connect app.

While Gamin boasts that the Vivomove Trend is suitable for fitness tracking, it lacks a GPS module. Instead, it only supports Connected GPS when paired with a compatible smartphone. The Vivomove Trend is available to order now in four colours. Garmin describes the smartwatch’s four colourways as follows; please see the company’s website for more details:

  • Cream Gold Stainless Steel Bezel with French Gray Case and Silicone Band – US$299.99
  • Slate Stainless Steel Bezel with Black Case and Silicone Band – US$269.99
  • Peach Gold Stainless Steel Bezel with Ivory Case and Silicone Band – US$299.99
  • Silver Stainless Steel Bezel with Mist Gray Case and Silicone Band – US$269.99
