Hurricane Chris’ Defense Says Forensics Will Prove June 2020 Shooting Was “Self-Defense”

Hurricane Chris’ defense, Alex Washington, said a forensics expert would prove the fatal June 2020 shooting, was “self-defense.” The rapper is expected to appear for a hearing on Feb. 1. The trial is expected to start on Feb. 13.

A Louisiana Judge decided he would allow a forensics expert to testify on behalf of the “Ay Bay Bay” rapper and support him in his self-defense claims of the June 2020 shooting of Shreveport, La. native Danzeria O. Farris Jr., 32. Farris died of his wounds at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Hospital, according to Shreveport police reports.

Hurricane Chris’ Lawyer Statement

The “Playas Rock” artist’s defense lawyer, Alex Washington, said his client’s actions were in “self-defense.” Washington also added, “Hurricane Chris’s actions were in self-defense and justified. Today, the court ruled to allow our forensic expert to testify at trial,” he said. 

“He (the judge) will allow the second expert to testify once we provide a written report to the state,” Washington continued. “Both experts will assist in providing that Hurricane Chris’ actions were reasonable and justified. Feb. 1 will clear up some small issues.”

Recently, Rapper Drake and five other rappers have been named as witnesses in the murder case of the late Florida rapper XXXTentacion. The rappers on the witness list include chart-topping rapper Drake, with whom X had an ongoing feud—and several others, including Chicago rapper 600 Breezy; Tekashi 6ix9ine; and Migos members: Quavo, Offset and the late Takeoff, who died in November 2022.
