Selena Gomez Seemed To Respond To Body-Shaming Comments Following Her Golden Globes Appearance

This post contains discussion of body image issues.

The singer shared the apparent response on Instagram.

She had attended the Globes on Tuesday after receiving a nomination for her performance in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building. She wore a black strapless dress with puffy sleeves and a thigh-high split.

Unfortunately, after the appearance, she faced some pretty awful comments about her body online. But rather than hitting back, Selena kept it classy with her response.

Appearing on Instagram Live that night with her 9-year-old sister Gracie, who was also her date at the Globes, Selena explained: “I’m a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays.” She then turned to Gracie and asked, “Right?” Gracie agreed, causing Selena to burst out into laughter.

The incident comes the same week that the singer came back to Instagram, which she’d left a few years ago because of all the negativity.

She said at the time that she’d “found it difficult for me to be me” on the app, and by leaving, she ended up developing “a much better relationship with myself.”

So, it’s just really unfortunate that she’s come back to such hateful comments already. People need to do better.
