Eight firms win spots on £1.5bn public-sector framework

Manchester

Eight firms, including some of the industry’s biggest names, have won places on a £1.5bn framework covering public-sector projects across the North West of England.

Kier, Sir Robert McAlpine, ISG, Vinci and Morgan Sindall are among those named on the four-year framework, which kicks off this month.

The work includes building daycare centres, crematoriums, further education facilities, halls of residence, schools, shopping centres, industrial buildings, libraries and car parks.

It is the fourth edition of the High Value Construction Framework managed by procurement vehicle the North West Construction Hub (NWCH).

The framework is used by clients delivering projects across the North West that use public-sector funding.

In the last edition in 2019, Balfour Beatty, Laing O’Rourke, Wates and Bouygues were among the winners – but all missed out this time.

Twenty bids were received for the latest round.

Jared Allen, chair of NWCH’s board and director of capital programmes for Manchester City Council, said the procurement process had been “very rigorous”.

He added: “We are aware that a number of clients eagerly await the news to kick-start many of their projects.”

ISG’s North-West framework manager Paul Collins said: “We’re looking forward to the next four years and the opportunities that this success will provide us to deliver fantastic projects and outcomes for the people of the North West.”

NWCH was established in 2009. Manchester City Council is the legal entity behind it.
