Rematch is a game I’ve not given much thought since its debut this time last year, but it seems the online football title has enjoyed a pretty healthy 12 months while I’ve not been paying attention.
To recap, this is from developer Sloclap, perhaps best known for its martial arts beat-’em-up, Sifu. Its next game would be Rematch, an online multiplayer football game that combines the real sport with the immediacy and simplicity of Rocket League.
It turns one year old today, 19th June 2026, and by all accounts it seems to have had a great first year.
Player stats shared by the team suggest it has a very active player base:
Rematch has 7.5 million unique players, who have scored 530 million goals and played 105 million matches. This averages out to 1,000 goals and 200 matches every minute.
In terms of actual sales, Sloclap has not shared an updated figure. Shortly after launch, it was announced it had sold over a million copies, so it’s certainly doing well for itself.
I had a look at SteamDB, and while player number charts aren’t always a great metric, I was pretty impressed by how consistent Rematch is.
It’s been attracting an average of about four or five thousand players for many months now, and while that’s not the biggest number, it’s clearly holding the attention of a pretty sizeable enthused audience.
Over the last year, Rematch has been updated with gameplay improvements, crossplay, and seasonal content, so the team has really been supporting it well too.
