Saints announce several roster moves before training camp

Football is back! Training camp has arrived for the New Orleans Saints, and the team recently announced a slew of roster moves as August inches closer. Let’s take a look at the most recent transactions.

CB Beanie Bishop- Waived

Bishop came to the Saints after playing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but found himself suspended for the beginning of the upcoming season after violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Although Beanie may not have been expected to make a major impact for New Orleans this year, the coaching staff and front office elected to move on from his services ahead of training camp.

CB Mike Reid- Signed

With one defensive back on his way out of the building, New Orleans looked elsewhere to fill that new void. The team did not have to look far, though, as they brought in a corner with ties to the NFC South. Mike Reid signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent from South Dakota in 2025. He spent time on the practice squads of both the Carolina Panthers and the Seattle Seahawks.

TE Cody Hardy & DL Zxavian Harris- Active/Non-Football Injury

Hardy signed with New Orleans after going undrafted in April’s draft. The 6’5” 22-year-old pass catcher finished his final collegiate season with six receptions, 83 yards, and two touchdowns with the North Carolina State Wolfpack. Harris was a four-year member of the Ole Miss Rebels and later made his way to New Orleans as an UDFA. At 6’8” and more than 300lbs., Zxavian is a force of nature within the trenches, ending his college days with over 120 total tackles.

DL Keeshawn Silver & WR Mason Tipton- Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP)

Silver is a rookie defensive tackle out of USC. Although his injury preventing him from practicing has not been discussed or announced publicly, the former Trojan will be eligible to play once cleared medically. Tipton is still recovering from a groin injury suffered in January, but has a history with New Orleans. Mason has played in 25 games for the Saints since 2024 and has just as many receptions. Although smaller in stature, Tipton plays with heart, but will need to demonstrate what he is capable of once more this offseason in a Saints’ WR room that may be as deep as ever with many jockeying for roster spots.
