And you thought your big-screen TV was huge …
A non-profit community group called Summer Bash YQR is presenting outdoor movie nights on a giant inflatable screen measuring 40 feet wide by 30 feet high.
“Gather your family, friends and a cozy blanket or chair to join us for an evening filled with entertainment, laughter and community spirit,” says a news release.
1. Movies in the park
The next event takes place Saturday night at McNab Park (4801 11h Ave.) — assuming Mother Nature co-operates.
It features Zootopia 2, which was released late last year and quickly became one of the most commercially successful animated films of all time.
According to Disney’s official synopsis, the story follows detectives Judy Hopps (played by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) as they “find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who arrives in Zootopia and turns the animal metropolis upside down. To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before.”
Following some pre-show activities, the movie begins at about 9:30 p.m. (weather permitting). Snacks are to be available from an on-site canteen.

2. Hop to it
A popular self-guided tour of Regina craft breweries is back to quench your thirst this summer.
Hop Circuit features six local breweries in and near the Warehouse District: Bushwakker, Copperhead, District Brewing Co., Malty National Brewing, Pile O’ Bones, and Rebellion.
The full route is designed to take about two hours to walk or 25 minutes by bike.
You can pick up an official Hop Circuit passport at any participating brewery and collect stamps for beverages purchased at each location. Limited edition Hop Circuit glasses are to be available while supplies last.
Once a passport is fully stamped, it can be entered into a grand prize draw.

3. Start your engines
The Friday Nights Classic Car Show is back at Southland Mall parking lot (5 p.m.-9:30 p.m., weather permitting).
The free event launched in Saskatoon in 2021 and has expanded to Regina this summer with weekly shows running through September.
It features hot rods, muscle cars, restored antiques and more. There is no fee or registration needed to enter a vehicle — just show up and find a spot.
“Join us every Friday night for a summer celebration of timeless style and community fun,” says an online preview. “Bring the whole family and stroll through a rotating showcase of vehicles. Whether you’re a car enthusiast or just looking for a fun evening out, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
4. Cemetery tours
The Regina Cemetery Tours continue their weekly instalment on Friday night with “Quarantine: Stories from Regina’s Pandemics.”
The 90-minute cemetery tours feature various themes throughout the season, beginning in June with Victims of the Regina Cyclone.
The pandemic tour runs every Friday in July, but tickets are limited.
“When you think of pandemics, you may think of the Spanish Flu of 1918-1920, or the more recent COVID-19 pandemic of 2020-2023,” begins an online preview. “However, pandemics have always been a part of our city’s history, and thousands have perished because of them. Come learn about their stories, and learn their lessons, so that the mistakes will never be repeated again.”
Patrons are asked to meet before 7 p.m. at the gates across from Young’s Memorials (4th Ave. and Scarth St.).

5. Outdoor farmers’ market
The Regina Farmers’ Market (RFM) continues its outdoor schedule on Saturday (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) at City Square near Victoria Park.
The market, which also runs Wednesdays, features a wide variety of local vendors and products.
