Beyond Limits Academy coach Olumide Ajibolade is being eyed as the potential manager for former NPFL champions Remo Stars, Soccernet.ng understands.
The past year has been tumultuous for Remo Stars. Just two years ago, they were champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League, with coach Daniel Ogunmodede leading the charge.
However, last season proved disastrous. They finished the campaign in 17th place, narrowly escaping relegation by the skin of their teeth. For context, four teams are demoted from the NPFL, unlike many other leagues that relegate fewer sides.
Ogunmodede was away for most of the campaign due to his national team duties as a Super Eagles assistant and attending coaching courses.
Towards the end of the season, they appointed Usman Abdallah to spearhead their survival push, but he could not steer them clear of danger. Following the conclusion of the campaign, Remo Stars announced the departure of Ogunmodede, who has since taken over the vacant role at Kano Pillars.
Abdallah also left at the end of the campaign, leaving the Sky Blue Stars in search of a new manager. It appears they have now reached a decision.
Soccer Olumide Ajibolade: Can He Lead Remo Stars Back To The NPFL?
Soccernet.ng understands that Olumide Ajibolade is in the front seat to take over as the new head coach of Remo Stars ahead of next season.
Ajibolade’s involvement with the club started with his role as the Under-17 coach in 2019, before he was appointed as the Beyond Limits Football Academy coach in 2021.
The gaffer’s exceptional success at the academy level is evident. He has also been instrumental within national team setups, having been appointed as an assistant coach to Manu Garba in 2024 and currently serving as the first assistant to Golden Eaglets boss Eboboritse Uwejamomere.
He boasts a very impressive CV, having won The Creative Championship (TCC), alongside the Ogun State FA Cup, the Viareggio Cup, and the recently-concluded Gothia Cup.
Olumide also has NNL experience and guided Beyond Limits to NPFL promotion in 2024. Therefore, he understands the terrain well and is equipped to lead Remo Stars back to the Nigerian top-flight.
